The UPR-Humacao PREM will host the 2011 PREM and MRSEC PIs Joint Meeting on March 9-11, 2011 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Palmas del Mar, Humacao, Puerto Rico.

The program will include PREM and MRSEC joint and parallel sessions.

In collaboration with an NSF-supported CREST program, a focal event in the CCNY PREM will be our Fall 2010 recruitment weekend scheduled to take place the weekend of October 15 – 17, 2010. The 4th PENN-UPRH PREM Symposium on Soft Matters in Materials Science will take place on Friday May 7th, 2010 in Palmas del Mar, Humacao, Puerto Rico.

The solicitation for the next PREM competition has just been announced (  NSF 09-518 ). The proposals will be due on March 5, 2009. The focus is on Educational and Outreach opportunities provided by the MRSEC and PREM programs with 4 sessions on Sunday afternoon, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Following sessions: Session 1 Session 2 Session 3 Session 4

UPRM PREM and the UPR IFN (Institute for Functional Nanomaterials) from the 30th of March through April 6th joined forces to host Nanodays in several Puerto Rican cities and towns.

The University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez is providing opportunities to obtain meaningful experiences to undergraduates, especially minority students, in the area of synthesis of functional nanomaterials and the behavior of nanostructured materials.

The purpose of the workshop is to evaluate the strength and weakness of the PREM program, outline its future, and formulate the recommendation of the community to the NSF.
